Zenit.org un budget de 1.240.000 euros pour 2006

Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas, Zenit est une Agence internationale d'information. Sa mission est de fournir, pour un public international, et en particulier les media, une couverture objective et professionnelle des événements, des questions, des documents touchant l'actualité de l'Eglise catholique et du monde vus de Rome (www.zenit.org). J'ai connu Zenit, il y a cinque ans. C'est pour moi parmi les grandes sources d'information sur l'Eglise Catholique. Tous les jours, on peut recevoir des nouvelles fraîches et des documents venant directement de Rome... Un email quotidien avec le fameux sujet : "Le monde vu de Rome".

Chaque année, je suis étonné par les lettres de demandes de dons que Zenit fait. Des lettres n'hésitant pas à insister pour avoir quelques euros... pour le service. Au début, j'étais un peu gêné, bien que j'apprécie les services de Zenit. Savoir qu'ils reçoivent pendant la campagne d'une année environ 1 million d'euros suscite des questions.

Mais aujourd'hui, je viens de recevoir un email montrant le budget de Zenit pour 2006. Un budget détaillé de 1.240.000 Euros, stupéfiant non! Mais c'est réel. Zenit emploie plus de 50 collaborateurs (allant de journalistes, traducteurs, aux techniciens). Ils dépensent 50.000 euros seulement pour le serveur et les matériels informatiques). Et avec tout ça, ils comptent surtout sur l'aide des abonnées et des dons divers (75% des entrées). Le budget complet peut se voir sur ce lien.

Qu'est-ce que je peux en tirer?

Il y a des services qui vivent surtout des dons des utilisateurs. Les gens qui font cela ne sont pas des "quémandeurs". Ce n'est pas comme la réaction de certains gasy qui pense que demander des donations pareilles sur ses projets veut dire "Mangataka etsy sy eroa"... et qu'afficher un bouton paypal pour donation provoque une grand polémique. Le resultat, les projets gasy deviennent affiliés à des sociétés qui les accablent avec des publicités... ou vivent par le seul volonté et capacité économique de ceux qui les ont initiés. Des projets non stables.

Ok; sans dodute, diriez-vous, on ne peut pas les comparer. En tout cas, les projets gasy ne sont pas autant sérieux. 

He may have walked on ice?

I have just read how Reuters.com reported Professor Doron Nof's theory on that miracle when Jesus walked on the water. According to Nof, Jesus may have walked on a floating piece of ice... since there could be some combination of water and atmospheric conditions that would led to ice formation on the Sea of Galilee.

My first (and not very deep) reaction to such affirmation is that here, Prof. Nof just took out of the context this miracle. When this story happened (Mk. 6. 47-51), Jesus had just fed a multitude (I don't want to say any number here) of people. And after that, there were many people who came to him to be cured. So this event cannot be separated from all those series of miracles. If we have to justify, scientifically how Jesus walked on the water, then we would need to justify all the miracles before and after it.

Then, we can maybe put some questions linked to Nof's affirmation. For instance if such combination of water and atmospheric conditions would form some blocks of ice or just one, upon which Jesus could stand. How big would that block be? And how could he get that? In the Gospel, there was a tempest; how could he stay on that block of ice? How long would he be there, considering the wind and his clothes? etc...

Third, as I said in the first part, this miracle is not the biggest one that Jesus did. There is especially the resurrection. All the miracles in the Bible are there to show the glory of the risen Christ. Jesus did them to lead us slowly to accept his death and resurrection. So any theory treating any miracle Jesus did would not be very useful it isn't able to reply to the resurrection...
